Communications Consultant

We are passionate about delivering results for our clients, and are therefore seeking someone with the ability to wow clients, provide articulate communications advice, and deliver media coverage beyond their expectations.

We are seeking a journalist, junior media advisor or consultant with exceptional understanding of the media to join our fast-paced communications consultancy.
You must have a flair for words, an uncanny ability to find a hard news angle in anything, and the tenacity to get mainstream media coverage for clients.
You will work closely with one of our directors on national clients with a heavy media relations focus, but will also work in the fields of corporate communications and community engagement.
Ideally, you will have a degree in journalism or communication and have one to two years' paid work experience. Regional Queensland or Gold Coast experience will be highly regarded.
Shortlisted applicants will be expected to provide examples of writing and successful media coverage, and sit a news writing test.

Personal Assistant/Administration Manager

BBS is a national communications consultancy operating since 1989, we practice across five key practice areas - corporate communication, community engagement, media relations, investor relations and digital media.
This busy role is responsible for managing the administrative functions of a busy communications consultancy, as well as managing the diaries of two executives.
Duties include diary management, correspondence, managing travel arrangements, managing the company's extensive databases, board minutes, managing a receptionist, undertaking administrative duties, organising corporate networking events, managing a boardroom lunch series, organising meetings and conducting research for the Executive Chairman and Managing Director.
The successful applicant will be energetic and positive and have exemplary attention to detail. They must be a team player and play a role in fostering the creative and fun corporate culture.
Experience within either a Ministerial office, or corporate environment is essential. A knowledge of marketing, communications or media industries is desirable.
Essential skills for the role are Advanced Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint skills, typing speed of 80wpm, excellent telephone manners, ability to communicate with all levels of seniority, an eye for detail, a sense of fun, and an ability and love for juggling and prioritising several tasks at once.

BBS Internship Program
BBS offers a formal internship program, giving final-year students the opportunity to "get their hands dirty” at the coalface of PR.
How will the internship program work?
Successful interns will be expected to complete approximately 75 hours of work or similar, as set by your university. These hours are usually met by attending BBS one day a week for the duration of a university semester.
Each intern will gain an in-depth understanding of client work by working across our client service teams and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
How do I apply?
In March and July, BBS will call for applicants to the internship program. Final-year students from all universities are eligible to apply.
Interested final-year students will have to submit an application, a resume and two samples of work, no longer than two pages each.
Short-listed candidates will be interviewed and asked to complete a simple writing test.
Semester 1 applications close on Friday March 9th, 2012. Semester 2 applications close on Friday July 27th, 2012.
