Rebecca is an accredited media trainer, who has worked with small, medium and large businesses, corporate management consultancy firms, not-for-profit groups and public relations agencies across a range of industries, including financial services, building and construction, healthcare, education, transport, emergency services and consumer goods.
Rebecca’s experience in journalism spans two decades, including international reporting for BBC World Television News in London, and 10 years specialising in business reporting for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Known in her journalism career as Rebecca Hyam, she has worked as a broadcast and digital reporter, presenter, producer, sub-editor and chief of staff. Rebecca’s international experience included covering the Boxing Day tsunami, the 2005 bombings on the London Underground and the insurgency in Iraq.
Rebecca was instrumental in directing the ABC’s coverage of the Global Financial Crisis, and when the network’s continuous television news channel launched in 2010, Rebecca headed up the business and finance coverage – writing, editing and presenting the business bulletins.
Rebecca is a fully-accredited media trainer, with qualifications including a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Journalism from the Queensland University of Technology, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (covering all aspects of Adult Learning Principles). She has facilitated group sessions, preparing clients for media interviews, using the highly-effective and proven formula that is the Media Skills methodology. She has also provided intensive one-on-one coaching sessions for spokespeople involved in crisis management.
